Emblem, Motto & Object
Hebrews 6:19 (KJV) “which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both Sure and Stedfast.” From this verse came our emblem and our motto “Sure and Stedfast”.
The Object of The Boys’ Brigade shall be the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian Manliness.
In practice, we aim to:
- Help Boys develop and grow in Christian character
- Train Boys to become loyal and responsible citizens
- Promote physical fitness and develop the leadership potential in each Boy
The method by which The Boys’ Brigade aims to achieve its object is to provide a fun, meaningful and challenging programme of physical, enrichment, spiritual and social interests.
The 74th Singapore Company of the Boys’ Brigade
The 74th Company of the Boys’ Brigade Singapore commenced operations in November 2000 in Kent Ridge Secondary School. From the pioneering batch of 8 boys, we have since grown to an average yearly membership of 50 boys, aged between 12 and 17. Throughout the year, the Company conducts a variety of outdoor activities such as archery, camping, hiking, kayaking, rappelling and rockwall. These activities are usually led by volunteer youths and young adults and the Company is always in need of willing and able helpers. The Company also actively participates in brigade level competitions and community service initiatives, such as the annual BB Blaze, Character Quest, Share-a-gift and BB CARES project, where the Boys’ participate in a week-long nationwide donation drive to help the less fortunate among us.
We meet weekly on Saturdays, from 9:00am to 12:00nn at Kent Ridge Secondary School, 147 West Coast Road, Singapore 127368.

Developing each girl and officer to her fullest potential by equipping, empowering and enabling :
Every Girl to be a leader, and
Every Officer, a Servant Leader
Seek, Serve and Follow Christ
To help girls to become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and through self-control, reverence and a sense of responsibility to find true enrichment of life
Our 4 fold programme
The Programme of The Girls’ Brigade is concerned with the SPIRITUAL, PHYSICAL, EDUCATIONAL and SOCIAL development of members. It is based on:
“Jesus advanced in wisdom (educationally) and stature (physically) and in favour with God (spiritually) and man (socially).” – Luke 2:52
The 54th company was started in Kent Ridge secondary school in 2000. Our regular weekly sessions are held in the school, on Mondays, frm 3.00pm-6.00pm. They usually consist of:
- Worship and devotion
We also have at least 4 sessions each year in which we go for outings or have special activities like ice skating, Christmas party, movie outing etc.
There are also at least 2 camps each year.
We require helpers in the following areas:
- Weekly planning and running of sessions (devotions & small group discussions, teaching of drill, planning of games)
- Teaching and conducting badgework sessions, eg. Teaching of craft, workshops, teaching baking etc.
- Helping during Ad hoc events and camps. Eg. Kayaking chaperons, guitar course instructors, teaching of craft or a skill, conducting workshops.
If you are interested to find out more about these two rewarding ministries, please contact Patrick Chan Yin.
