Dear brothers and sisters,
Trust you are keeping well as we enter into the third week of the “circuit breaker” season.
Good news! We received approval last evening from the authorities to operate a safe, sound sleeping place (S3P) for the homeless in our premises during the “circuit breaker” season. Called “CBC Shelter”, this is a joint project with Mt Carmel BP Church and we hope to begin operations this Wednesday (22 April).
We are grateful to God for allowing us to play a small role in extending his love and hospitality to those in need of it during this difficult time. A big thank you, as well, to all volunteers who have worked tirelessly in the last 10 days to make this endeavour a reality, and who will contribute to the running and upkeep of this shelter in the days to come. (We had so many indicating their willingness to serve that we had to turn some of them down due to the limited numbers that are allowed on the premises at this time.) Thank you to all who have also donated in kind to this cause – at present, we have all the items we need to set up CBC Shelter.
Some have been asking if they can contribute financially to this project. If you would like to do so, please either do a bank transfer or PayNow to the church’s OCBC bank account, (AC No. 552-058257-001) indicating that your gift is for “CBC Shelter”. Your contributions will help defray the cost of setting up this shelter and go towards the provision of the stayers’ daily needs (e.g. their meals). Please note that any excess funds collected for this project will eventually be directed to the church’s general fund.
Besides your gifts, we need your prayers. Please pray for the Shelter IC (Asst Ps Keet Keong) and all volunteer hosts to be kept safe from all harm, and for them to radiate the grace of Christ as they serve the stayers. Please pray for the stayers, as well, that they will find in this shelter a respite from their wanderings, peace from their troubles, and most importantly, Christ himself.
Thank you for your partnership in this good work.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)
