Matthew 6.14-15
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Personal Reflections In repeating the need to forgive others, it would seem that forgiveness of others is especially crucial for the people of the new kingdom. Naturally so, for we become the people of the kingdom purely because of the forgiveness we receive. How then can we begrudge and deny forgiveness to others? While our salvation is not conditional on our forgiving others, it is important to remember that God expects us to forgive, just as we have been forgiven.
Have you offended anyone and have you asked for forgiveness? Are there also people who have offended you? Have you genuinely forgiven them? Are you willing to be obedient to Jesus’ teaching in forgiving them?
