Matthew 7.12
12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Personal Reflections When pressed to give a summary of the Law and Prophets, Hillel, a Jewish Rabbi has taught “do not do to your neighbour what is hateful to you.”[5] Yet Jesus “raise the bar” by providing the positive rather than the negative injunction. To do to others what we would have them do to us is certainly far more demanding. Yet it speaks of self-giving love that must characterise the people of the new kingdom.
What does this summary command mean to you practically in your present relationship with your spouse, children, friends, family members, colleagues and even enemies?
