Matthew 7.24-27

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Personal Reflections Most, if not all of us wants to have a house that is founded on solid rock. Yet by our lack of obedience, many of us would choose to build on sand. Most of us have been hearing sermons and teachings for years, but how many of us are conscientiously applying and living out the truths that we learn? Unless and until we are living out the kingdom values, we run the danger of falling away when the hard times come.

Therefore, before the rains and the winds come, examine your life – are you merely listening to Jesus’ teaching or are you actually heeding it? In what tangible and specific ways would you learn to heed His warning all the time?
