Week 9 (Beginning 24 Feb) Day 1

Communications

Matthew 6.1

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

Personal Reflections Having dealt with the conduct of God’s people, Jesus shifts His attention to the way they show their commitment and devotion. Verse 1 serves as the overarching principle here, that our acts of devotion to God should not be used to “show-off” to man.

These acts can range from giving of our time, contributing to someone’s personal needs to helping someone with their chores. These are our signs of commitment and devotion to God – a response to God’s love and grace as disciples of Christ. What are your “acts of righteousness”? What are some ways you can express your devotion to God with a genuine and pure motivation?
