PAUSE
Merciful God, I come in honesty and humility.
Search my heart and bring to light
whatever needs Your healing forgiveness.
Pause and Pray
REFLECT
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors. (Matthew 6:12)
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity.
Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51:7-10)
Is God’s forgiveness of your sins something you marvel at or take for granted?
What difference would it make for you to have a pure heart and steadfast spirit?
Is there anyone I am still holding in my debt? What steps can I take to forgive them?
Pause and Pray
ASK
Holy God of justice and mercy,
forgive me where I have sinned against You and others.
Heal my wounded relationships, soften my hardened heart,
Reveal to me the depth of my brokenness and heal me.
Give me the grace to forgive as I have been forgiven.
Pause and Pray
YIELD
God, who alone can cleanse my darkest sins and heal my deepest hurts,
I place before You all my resentment, bitterness, and pain. I release my desire for vengeance and self-justification.
May the knowledge that You will vindicate me of wrongs done against me be enough. Teach me to walk in the freedom of my forgiveness and to freely forgive
as I have been forgiven.
Pause and Pray
May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
(2 Thessalonians 3:5)
